Rose McMackin’s writing appears in Texas Monthly, Haloscope Magazine, Puerto del Sol, Hobart, Atticus Review, The Forge Literary Magazine, Juked Magazine and others. Her essays explore the American West — both the place and the myth. She is a nonfiction editor at Porter House Review and lives in Central Texas with a dog who performs all his own stunts.

She is currently at work on a book-length collection of essays and writes a weekly newsletter about country music at truck songs.
